Calleva Adventure Race 2013—Not your ordinary adventure race!

The fifth edition was an incredible hit and sold out well before the deadline! Don't miss out on the most exciting race in the Washington, DC metro area.

For 2013 we will continue to have two categories: EXPERT for advance racers and SPORT for strong athletes with limited experience in adventure racing. Racers in both categories will have up to 10 hours to complete the course, but Expert category will include more technical disciplines that require special skills.

Expert category navigation will be on the Pro level and will be used in every discipline of the Expert course: including paddling, mountain biking, and trekking. Mountain biking will include technical single track, gravel roads, paved roads and even some off road riding. Hint: get ready for some sweet, new single track.

Sport category navigation will be more obvious, but still will require good knowledge of map and compass use. Biking sections will be on road, gravel roads and optional single track. If you are new to the sport, or do not have a good navigator on your team, this category is for you. Sport category teams will paddle flat water canoes, solo racer will have kayaks. Get ready!

2013 race is open for teams of 1, 2 and 3 racers.

    The first O-Course Preview

The draft of the first O-Course is ready and was tested out this weekend! Featuring steep climbs, water crossings, and plenty of bushwhacking, the course will challenge racers navigation skills in a beautiful environment of diverse terrain. The o-course covers about 10 miles (if you going to collect all optional CPs) with roughly 1,200' of climbing. You can easily increase the distance by getting lost a few times. Both Expert and Sport category racers will go for at least part of this o-course.  We don't want to give away too much info, but rest assured the course will be fun and tough!

Here are a few preview pics to whet your appetite:

Racers will cross this and other streams - maybe multiple times!
Some open spaces will allow for straight-line bushwhacking
